KAROL MARCINKOWSKI UNIVERSITY Established 75 years ago, the Polish medical school is located in the 1,000-year-old city of Poznan, midway between Berlin , Germany, and Warsaw, Poland, on the banks of the River Warta. It is the first Eastern European institution to offer classes in English and its four-year program is based in the U.S. model. Most of the faculty have had extensive training in the United States and are fluent in English. Five clinical hospitals with 2,216 beds, together with 445 beds in other Poznan hospitals, provide a wide clinical base for university teaching and research. Students who complete the program are eligible to return to the United States to practice medicine.

As of Feb. 2004, there are 150 American and Canadian students at KMU, and the total medical enrollment is approximately 5,000.

KMU is approved by the U.S. Department of Education as an eligible institution to participate in the Stafford Plus and Supplemental Student Loan Programs. It also is a World Health Organization (WHO) recognized institution. Students in the FDU/KMU program are Registered European Students, making them eligible for travel discounts in Europe.

The Personal Benefits of a Small College
With two northern New Jersey campuses, Florham-Madison and Teaneck-Hackensack, and overseas in England and Israel, FDU students also enjoy many benefits of attending a small-college environment. The University is divided into three degree-granting colleges: Maxwell Becton College of Arts and Sciences, University College if Arts - Sciences - Professional Studies and the Samuel J. Silberman College of Business Administration. Most classes number fewer than 25 students, enabling professors to know student's individual strengths and interests firsthand. FDU also encourages its students to become involved in community service and voluntary programs and is part of a nationwide coalition of colleges and universities joined in an effort to establish community services as an education priority. Working together, our faculty and students are doing great things.
