The six year Pharm.D. program in Pharmacy is designed for High School & College Graduates who have taken Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Launched in September 2009, The 6-year Pharm.D. Program offered at Poznan University of Medical Sciences complies with the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)'s Accreditation Standards and Guidelines for The Professional Program in Pharmacy Leading to the Doctor of Pharmacy Degree, as well as with the Directive 2005/36/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on the recognition of professional qualifications. Poznan University of Medical Sciences in Poznan, Poland welcomes applications from international students for admission to its 6-year program in English leading to the Doctor of Pharmacy - Pharm.D. degree.
Requirements
The Faculty of Pharmacy offers a six-year program in English leading to the Doctor of Pharmacy degree. The program is open to foreign candidates who have graduated from high schools, obtained good grades preferably in chemistry, and also in biology and physics, and possess sufficient knowledge of English. The applicants may be accepted to this program after completion of the requirements outlined below. Requirements for post-graduation: Upon returning to the United States, students must complete the FPGEE®(foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Examination). Additional information may be found at http://www.nabp.net. Canadian students should check with their local provincial government in order to determine if there are any additional requirements. The following documents and items are required for every applicant:
Students from outside the US who have not taken the SAT or ACT exam will have to take an exam before their interview to test their knowlege of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Your application will be considered carefully by the Admissions Committee and applicants selected on their qualifications will be invited for an interview. The interview together with your school grades will provide a basis for the Committee decision regarding your admission to the University.

Tuition & Fees
The expenses (Cost of Attendance) for the entering academic year 2011-12 of the Pharm. D. Program are estimated as follows:
*Single students over 24 years of age The above includes an estimate of $650 monthly for personal expenses. Tuition and Dormitory are set in Polish Zloty and will be translated into US Dollars on June 30th of each year. Tuition is split into 2 installments each year and payable September 30th and February 15th. The amounts below will be an approximate total of costs for each year of study at a dollar to zloty rate of 1:3. There are no registration, administrative, or placement fees. The cost to apply for a Temporary Stay Card (U.S. Citizens/non-visa holders) is approximately $150 USD. Tuition and Liability Insurance are paid to the USA Office. Payment is made in US funds by certified check (or equivalent) to the order of “Poznan University of Medical Sciences”. Additionally, Canadian checks must be drawn on a US Bank.
Financial Assistance
The University is approved by the U.S. Department of Education as an eligible institution to participate in the Stafford and Federal Plus Direct Loans. Only United States Citizens and eligible non-citizens are eligible for Stafford and Graduate Plus Loans. The maximum amount that may be borrowed under the Stafford program is $20,500.00 per year and $18,000 from the Federal Plus Loan if you are a Graduate Student. The U.S. Department of Education recognizes a you as a graduate student when you have completed 3 previous years of undergraduate studies at an accredited US institution.. Students may receive subsidized (no interest before repayment, need based) and unsubsidized(interest accrues right away, not need based) loans. Interest rates are fixed at 6.8%. Repayment begins six months after a student is no longer in attendance. The approximate received amount after lender fees are deducted is $20,100.00. Deserving students can apply for University Scholarships after their first year of study. Student's may fill out a FAFSA online, whether or not they intend to apply. When submitted, we will receive your information electronically from the US Department of Education. Be sure to use our school code, which is G30917. Additional Details
If a students financial obligations are not met, the student will not be allowed to attend classes and seminars, and may be forced to leave the dormitory. Tuition, Insurance, Dormitory, and Dormitory Deposits are paid via mail to: Poznan University of Medical Sciences Checks must be written out to: "Poznan University of Medical Sciences" and must bear the students name on the check memo field. This is the University's North American Office. Payments have different due dates depending on the program which a student is entering, and the year that they are entering into. Payment for North American Students is made in US Funds by certified check (or equivalent) to the order of Poznan University of Medical Sciences. There are special requirements for Canadian payments, check the Common Questions section for details. Although it is possible to secure private quarters in the City of Poznan, the University recommends that first year students reside on campus. Dormitories are assigned on a first-come first-serve basis. There are three main dormititories. In the event that the dormitories have no room, students will be given a place in Hotel "IKAR". If a room becomes available in one of the University dormitories, the student will be required to re-locate to a University dormitory. There are a number of requirments for stay in the dorm. It is suggested that all students review the Student Handbook, for information about the dormitories and how to make room reservations. There are many services which allow books to be purchased in advance and shipped to Poland, books may also be purchased on http://www.amazon.co.uk and shipped to Poznan. There are a number of shipping services that will send your books from the USA to Poznan for you. There are also collegiate bookstores in Poznan that offer the required materials. We suggest you view the Student Information link on the left for further information about books and travel. Entering students applying for financial aid are encouraged to submit financial aid applications 60-90 days in advance of the start of the semester. Foreign students in Poland can buy Health Insurance in Narodowy Fundusz Zarowia for approximately EU 10.00 per month, although there is a lot of paperwork involved. It is suggested that students have their own medical insurance from the states, which allows for travel abroad. * Students supplying their own Health Insurance must provide an original letter on Insurance Carrier stationary agreeing to full medical and hospital coverage in Poland. |
