In order to apply for a Stafford Direct Loan
you are required to complete a Master Promissory Note.
All Master Promissory Note's (MPN's) are now completed online using the U.S. Department of Education's website at the following link:
https://studentloans.gov/myDirectLoan/index.action
If you are applying for a Graduate Plus Loan you must apply online as well as complete a Master Promissory Note at the same website above
With the Direct Loan Program the U.S Department of Education will be your lender.
When completeing your online MPN's you might be asked to find our school by state.
When asked this choose the state called Foreign Country
If you are an undergraduate student you can apply for for a Sallie Mae Smart Option Loan instead of a Federal Plus Loan. Students who have not completed 3 years of higher education at an U.S. accredited institution are not eligible for a Graduate Plus Direct Loan.
